For this episode, I’m joined by the co-creators of The Sustainability in Equine Practice Seminar and Retreat as we share some of the highlights of the past two events. The community formed over these two very special weekends can be described as nothing other than magical. We are excited for the future of equine medicine whenever we gather with these amazing folks. Come join us as we help shape a better vetmed for our present and future colleagues.
From workplace culture to salary structure to having time to ride your own horse, Dr. Mike Pownall joins me to discuss all of the important aspects of creating a workplace where veterinarians want to be. You don’t want to miss any of the gems that he shares after having grown a practice with his wife, Dr. Melissa McKee, over the past 20 years and honing his skills as a veterinary business management consultant.

To start off, please enjoy this discussion with Dr. David Stephens of Weems & Stephens Equine Hospital in Aubrey, Texas.
Julie Squires is back to take a deeper dive with us into the actual practice of setting boundaries! She has such important insight into what work we need to do when approaching boundaries in the workplace. You will get a ton of ideas from this episode regarding how to start a boundary discovery process and how to approach conversations in the workplace once you’ve nailed down some boundaries that need to be established.

hey there!
LET’S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER
Fueled by equal parts coffee and passion, I spend my days managing horses who like to hurt themselves and kids who do about the same thing.
I am a woman, wife, mother, equine vet and continual learner. I have realized that by focusing on my personal development, rather than just my professional CE, I have been able to get back to a place of happiness within veterinary medicine. I hope to share resources that will allow you to do the same thing.
