Let's grow together.
Take a #walkinmyshoes.
You get to hear from Dr. Danielle Alleman today as we discuss how boundaries, and lack thereof, can contribute to the major burnout epidemic we have happening in #veterinarymedicine right now.
GET READY to talk all things wellness with @empathos.vet on Thursday! I finally got to spend some time with Dr. Danielle Alleman and we had a blast. You'll hear about boundaries, self-compassion and a few reasons why veterinarians are really set up to burn out. It's a good one🥰
How do your boundaries hold up against the daily requests of #veterinarymedicine?
I really enjoyed these two episodes focusing on becoming a better leader. Very different perspectives and a bit of a time investment but well worth it! Thanks to Isaiah (@isaiahd_vwm) for the Randall Stutman recc when he was on TWV last month!
Two super short podcast episodes to check out from @tenpercenthappier and @tedtalksdaily. No excuse not to listen and gain a little perspective on how your life as a white woman is remarkably different than those of our Black counterparts.
You will hear unique perspectives in both of these podcast episodes, but I took several ideas away from both interviews.
We've all got to start somewhere, right? 2018 was the year that it became clear I was failing miserably at running my "life." I was doing a half ass job being a business owner, an average job of being an equine vet and mom and a terrible job at taking care of myself and my relationships. It took a lyme disease diagnosis, an emergency appendectomy one hour after cooking an entire thanksgiving meal and the loss of a friend's child to shake me out of my everyday grind.
Do you and your team have it all figured out? Have you ever felt unprepared for the leadership role in which you landed? If you'd like to get some insight from a leadership coach (the awesome Iggy @wslleadership), check out today's episode. Available wherever you get your podcasts or in the linkinbio.
You're on the same team for a reason, right?! This week on the podcast you'll hear from Iggy Perillo of @wslleadership as we chat about ways to enact change in your veterinary clinic. Communication and leadership skills are sadly left out of vet school but we use them every dang day!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if all veterinary staff felt that their team was led this way? Do you feel like you have the skills to be a leader like this in veterinary medicine?
Here's a topic close to my heart. Dr. Katie Ford and I discuss the benefits of a Gratitude practice in a quick, 8 minute chat. Check it out and let me know if gratitude is something you can work into your day.
You have the opportunity to create a different mindset in just 5 minutes a day. Check out the quick bonus episode on The Science of Gratitude featuring @katiefordvet. Available Thursday!
Are you aware of the true benefits of being grateful? Dr. Katie Ford gives us research-based reasons why a gratitude practice can be an important tool in your mental wellbeing kit. Listen in to this bonus episode on Thursday!
Have you ever felt like you weren't qualified enough to be treating the animal standing in front of you? You are not alone. Join me as I chat with Dr. Katie Ford about her experiences with imposter syndrome and why they led her to dive deep into imposter syndrome. She is a wealth of information and I cannot thank her enough for sharing her story with us.
@katiefordvet explains one reason that veterinary professionals are particularly susceptible to feelings of imposter syndrome. If you've ever felt like a fraud in #vetmed (and TBH, who hasn't?!), you definitely don't want to miss tomorrow's new episode.
Start small. Can you find a tiny way to make a positive impact this week?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tonight I am grateful for my favorite yogi tea in my favorite personalized girl gang mug (surprise gifts are SO fun!), 10 minutes to myself to plan out the rest of my week, & snuggles from the new mini that just came to live at our farm (pics to come!)
"How am I feeling?"
